So far I can't find any faults with his radio, it does everything it says it will and has features I wasn't expecting like the ability to monitor your audio through headphones. I still have a lot to learn but I have all the basic features in a few extras in my head and I'm using them. Had a Yaesu ft-897d before this and it's much better on the receive and many more features so it was a good move.

This is a wonderful HF rig for the average to above average Ham. Superior notch and band pass filtering. Extra sensitive receive and excelent transmit quality reports. May seem a bit pricey up front but from MTC you will get the fairest pricing coupled with excellent customer service available on the web, Thanks to Richard and Tammy

After weeks and weeks of researching and comparing various transceivers for my first real rig purchase, I decided to go for this little gem and I couldn't be happier.
First off, I wanted a very good sensitive and above all selective receiver. This rig has it. Second, I wanted the transceiver to be a "real" flesh and bones one, as analog as it can get while keeping the price under control and performance at par with the DSP and SDR models.
This rig is an analog/DSP WITH RX antenna splitter and USB connectivity. Best of both worlds.
I love SDR (I built my own SDR rig) but I don't want my main radio to be dependent on a computer and an operating system that can be killed at any moment by a virus or a hard disk failure. Yes, I am an IT guy and I know what I am talking about...
As soon as I unpacked the radio (arrived double boxed and in good shape), I hooked it up to my modest Ultimax 100 end fed antenna (HOA issues, don't ask) and the internal ATU tuned it flawlessly on each band except 160m.
This was due to the shortness of the wire (24 feet). As soon as I extended the wire to 44 feet it tuned it also on 160m.
The radio is extremely easy to operate and set up, no complicated stacked menus, all the needed controls are on the front panel and are easily accessible. I made a few QSOs really quick to test the rig then I went on and set it up for my panadapter. Software setup was a breeze, panadapter setup even easier.
I simply used my Softrock radio as a panadapter, then I tested it also with an RTL.SDR and then finally with the SDRplay. All of them work admirably with the rig, especially the SDRplay box. Omnirig insures the communication between the transceiver and the HDSDR. If you read the manual you will see how to enable the internal splitter so you can take rx signal from receiver to your panadapeter sdr radio.
Really really easy.
So, in a nutshell, I am very, very satisfied. I made over 30 QSO's in 2 days, ranging from Australia to Lithuania and from Brazil to Vancouver, all using my small 24 ft wire and the 100W this rig is outputting.
Now, about the vendor: A+, stellar service. They exceeded my expectations and I am very happy with their service.

I did quite a bit of research before purchasing this rig. I have two other 'vintage' Kenwoods, the TS530 & TS430 so this was a natural. I did strongly consider the other brands and concluded that of all the brands all were excellent! So that was not really an issue.
Tho not a 'contester' I was looking to invest in a mid-range rig, not an entry level. The TS590SG was, to me, a clear winner in the details.
I've figured out most of the controls / features and have been able to set up the rig with several of my apps. Many thanks to the wonderful hams on the internet who 'went first' in figuring things out!
Thanks to MTC for the fast shipment! It's a great radio and the service was great!

I took the opportunity to upgrade from a TS-590S to the 590SG when the Black Friday specials were on.
There are some small improvements in the receiver and some of the ALC and metering issues that affected earlier 590S models have been addressed, (although I never saw any problems with my later model (B45 series)).
The addition of a receiver output terminal is one bonus I was looking for to add an SDR receiver as a pan-adapter. A second is the Morse decode function. The latter works quite well, but it's not quite as good as some of the software decoders.
They have improved the ergonomics a little and spruced up the appearance. I an very happy with the new rig and can recommend it highly.

Works extremely well in a compact package. Receiver is on par with much more expensive rigs.

Still on the learning curve with the 590. So far appears to be all that has been advertised. Much better receive then my Yaesu FT-857D.
Dealing with Main Trading was a real pleasure. Put my order in around 2pm and it was shipped the same day.
Expect to deal with this company again.

LOVE MY NEW TS-590SG ! Received my new TS-590SG six days ago and am amazed with it. Seems as though I learn something new about it every day. I have used a TS-950SD Digital for the last two years. I do believe that the TS-590SG is definitely a better radio by far. Well worth the price.
Now I have to say that I also love MTC. Richard and the gang are top notch AAA. I ordered the radio around 4 PM and they got it shipped same day. You just cannot get better service than that. They are a 10 out of 10 plus 5 stars. They do what the mega stores do not do.
Keep up the good work MTC, your customers do appreciate it.
