New technology is changing the way receivers are being designed and the IC-7300 is an industry first as an RF, Direct Sampling System is being used in an entry level HF radio. The ability to digitize RF before various receiver stages reduces the inherent noise that is generated in the different IF stages of a radio. We feel the performance of the ‘7300 will far exceed your expectations for a radio considered entry level.
Output power: |
100W (25W AM) | |
RX Frequencies: |
0.030-74.800 | |
Receiver type: |
Direct sampling |
The IC-7300 employs an RF direct sampling system, where RF signals are directly convert to digital data. Then processed in the FPGA (Field-Programmable Gate Array), making it possible to simplify the circuit construction as well as reduce noise that can mask weak signals.
The new “IP+” improves the 3rd order intercept point (IP3) performance improving the ability to copy a weak signal that is adjacent to either a strong interfering signal. In this process, A/D converter is optimized to reduce or eliminate signal distortion.
The IC-7300’s RMDR is about 97dB* (typical value) improving the Phase Noise characteristics by about 15dB (at 1 kHz frequency separation). The superior Phase Noise characteristics reduce noise components for both receive and transmit signals.
* At 1 kHz frequency separation (received frequency: 14.2MHz, MODE: CW, IF BW: 500Hz)
The RF Direct Sampling is protected by an array of bandpass filters. The signal passes through one of the fifteen bandpass filters, where signals outside the passband are rejected. To reduce the insertion loss, the IC-7300 utilizes High Q factor coils.
The large 4.3” color TFT touch LCD offers intuitive operation of functions, settings, and various operational visual aids such as the band scope, waterfall function, and audio scope.
Like on the high-end rigs, the waterfall shows a change of signal strength over a period of time and allows you to find weak signals that may not be apparent on the spectrum scope.
Use the audio scope function to observe various AF TX/RX characteristics such as microphone compressor level, filter width, notch filter width and keying waveform in the CW mode. Image below shows the Audio scope with the waterfall function and the oscilloscope.
You no longer have to choose whether to listen to the audio or have the spectrum scope sweep for signals as the IC-7300’s real-time spectrum scope offers the simultaneous operations found in some of the more expensive rigs! This means you can use either the spectrum scope or the waterfall to quickly move to an intended signal while listening to the receiver audio. The ‘7300’s touch screen introduces a “Magnify” function. So, when you first touch the scope screen around the intended signal, the touched part is magnified. A second touch of the scope screen changes the operating frequency and allows you to accurately tune.
Scope system | FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) |
Sweep speed | Max. 30 frames/second (approx.), selectable from slow, mid or fast |
Span width | 5kHz–1000kHz |
Resolution | 1 pixel minimum (approximately) |
Waveform display area (vertical axis) | 80dB |
Reference level adjustment | –20dB to +20dB |
Peak level hold function (Max. hold) | ON/OFF/last 10 seconds |
Other functions | Averaging indication Touch screen operation VBW (Video Band Width) adjustment |

The first impressions were fantastic! low noise level, good sensitivity, everything I'd heard and read seems to be true! Relatively easy to setup for voice usage. Data usage took a bit longer, needing to work through the USB interface(s) setup, and then sound input source using USB interface. But after setup, it's absolutely fantastic! ft8 operation is the best I've had yet. Audio reports are very good, and all in all, I'm entirely satisfied and happy with the purchase. MTC shipped fast, packed well, and another great transaction with the Texas gang! Thanks!

I have had the radio for about a week. I bought the 7300 for an early birthday president and am extremely pleased. I can already hear the difference in receive.

Im cheap, Im always looking for a deal and no matter how much I shop around ALWAYS I find the best price in MTC. I was unsure about the radio no matter everyone say good things about it but oh my, I felled in love, this thing have everything. The ONLY thing I will like to add is an way to be able to use it with HDSDR, SDRUno and SDRconsole without the need of external dongles. This radio is a keeper for me.

This is my first new radio. I have been limping along a ts-430 for years and saving up for a new radio. After many hours on YouTube I went with the 7300. MTC had the best price by far and great shipping time. I could not be happier with my purchase. The SWR graph allowed me to tune my 80m dipole exactly where I wanted. Still got a lot to learn with this rig but so far so great.

This is only my second HF rig and my first new one. After many YouTube videos and recommendations from my local Ham club I pulled the trigger. I could not be happier. So far the swr meter is my favorite feature it has allowed me to tweek my homebrew dipole to tune flat on 80m. MTC had the best price by far and I received very quickly(3days).

Excellent radio at an excellent price, just nothing out there that compares to it in its price range..

I have not used this radio yet. I am working on an antenna system. It was shipped quickly. It was packed well. The rebate from and receipt was in the box. The radio is undamaged. Looks good. The ICOM America web site has been down for 2 weeks. I am unable to register the warranty. Only rated this a
4 because i have not used the radio. The purchase experience is a 5.

I had one about three years ago and was simply amazed how easy and good everything worked on this radio, rag chew, DXing and even contesting this rig does an outstanding job! Is there better radio's out there, yes there will always be but this radio when used properly with a small amount of common sense does 95% of the big radio's job, even on a jam packed CW contest it is amazing how well it works. I also own a 7610 and yes its a bit better but its also three times the price but this radio is simply amazing at under a kilobuck! 73 KX2T

First I'd like to thank everyone at Maine Trading Company for getting my order together and shipped out so fast. The price was great! It showed up in prefect condition, and complete as ordered. So far I am loving this radio. I haven't had a new HF rig since the IC-706. I've been busy learning all the workings and making contacts. Thanks again MTC!
