 The Innovative HF Transceiver

New technology is changing the way receivers are being designed and the IC-7300 is an industry first as an RF, Direct Sampling System is being used in an entry level HF radio. The ability to digitize RF before various receiver stages reduces the inherent noise that is generated in the different IF stages of a radio. We feel the performance of the ‘7300 will far exceed your expectations for a radio considered entry level.

Output power:

  100W (25W AM)

RX Frequencies:

  0.030-74.800

Receiver type:

  Direct sampling

RF direct sampling system

The IC-7300 employs an RF direct sampling system, where RF signals are directly convert to digital data. Then processed in the FPGA (Field-Programmable Gate Array), making it possible to simplify the circuit construction as well as reduce noise that can mask weak signals.

The new “IP+” improves the 3rd order intercept point (IP3) performance improving the ability to copy a weak signal that is adjacent to either a strong interfering signal. In this process, A/D converter is optimized to reduce or eliminate signal distortion.

RMDR and phase noise characteristics

The IC-7300’s RMDR is about 97dB* (typical value) improving the Phase Noise characteristics by about 15dB (at 1 kHz frequency separation). The superior Phase Noise characteristics reduce noise components for both receive and transmit signals.
* At 1 kHz frequency separation (received frequency: 14.2MHz, MODE: CW, IF BW: 500Hz)

15 discrete band-pass filters

The RF Direct Sampling is protected by an array of bandpass filters. The signal passes through one of the fifteen bandpass filters, where signals outside the passband are rejected. To reduce the insertion loss, the IC-7300 utilizes High Q factor coils.

Large color touch screen

The large 4.3” color TFT touch LCD offers intuitive operation of functions, settings, and various operational visual aids such as the band scope, waterfall function, and audio scope.

Like on the high-end rigs, the waterfall shows a change of signal strength over a period of time and allows you to find weak signals that may not be apparent on the spectrum scope.

Use the audio scope function to observe various AF TX/RX characteristics such as microphone compressor level, filter width, notch filter width and keying waveform in the CW mode. Image below shows the Audio scope with the waterfall function and the oscilloscope.

Real-Time spectrum scope

You no longer have to choose whether to listen to the audio or have the spectrum scope sweep for signals as the IC-7300’s real-time spectrum scope offers the simultaneous operations found in some of the more expensive rigs! This means you can use either the spectrum scope or the waterfall to quickly move to an intended signal while listening to the receiver audio. The ‘7300’s touch screen introduces a “Magnify” function. So, when you first touch the scope screen around the intended signal, the touched part is magnified. A second touch of the scope screen changes the operating frequency and allows you to accurately tune.

Spectrum scope specifications

Scope system FFT (Fast Fourier Transform)

  1. Icom IC7300 Rig 5 Star Review

Posted by on 15th May 2019

I am really enjoying this rig. No real issues other than they just don't have a good speaker. Cured it with a ported bookshelf speaker.

Very pleased with the filtering system and overall features. Tweaked the audio for Tx/Rx and have had very next reports including a recording played back to me.

  2. Amazing 5 Star Review

Posted by on 6th Aug 2018

This is my first HF rig real easy to learn the basics with my minimum experience I can't wait to make some contacts. 73 K4WZZ

  3. I thoroughly enjoy this radio 5 Star Review

Posted by on 26th Mar 2018

I'm very happy i purchased thia radio as my own personal birthday gift. It's the first time i've had excitement with a radio purchase in sometime. The receiver is excellent and the interaction with my laptop has been incredible. Got on psk31 for the first time ever, with this radio last night. It was simple....no external gear needed... The fish finder is a great feature...also when it comes down to SWL, AM broadcast sound so much better with this radio then my other HF rig. I feel this radio has been a huge upgrade for me.

  4. More than "Entry Level" 5 Star Review

Posted by on 30th Dec 2017

So far I love it, but just had it 2 days...lol. This radio has many more options than a beginners rig. A small learning curve but not like more expensive / complicated radios. An improvement over my TS480HX ( but I'm keeping the 480 too) Best Bang for buck rig on the market.

  5. Incredible radio for price 5 Star Review

Posted by on 8th Dec 2017

To think that prior to this purchase, my shack consisted of a Yaesu FT817 with a THP 50 watt amplifier. Today the FT817ND costs about $700, but the ICOM IC-7300 is SO much more radio for just a little more money. It will take me a few months to learn and take advantage of all features on this great set. Sound is excellent too! Came very well packed by MTC.

  6. Icom IC7300 5 Star Review

This radio rocks! Lots of new technology. Simple to learn. Nice BIG digits. Colorful display. Amazingly low price for this full feature radio.

  7. Superior Customer Service 5 Star Review

Posted by on 9th Nov 2017

Placed the order on a Wednesday night late and received the radio first thing Saturday morning. A lot of radio for the money. I'm still learning all it can do.

  8. ICOM -7300 5 Star Review

the ICOM 7300 has all the features of the high end HF radios in a compact package .

  9. The IC-7300 is a "Gamechanger" as described in the QST review. 5 Star Review

Posted by on 5th Aug 2016

Licensed continuously since 1958 I was for several years looking to upgrade to a SDR transceiver. I hesitated because I have a Mac and am not computer savvy enough to go that route. The transceivers on the market had and still have too many soft buttons and I surmised that I could not ever master them. Then I read the review in QST and looked at some videos on YouTube about the IC-7300. I purchased one and have had it for one week now. I spent about 15 minutes reviewing portions of the manual and then turned it on. It is truly intuitive and the touch screen is terrific. With the same antenna I am now hearing a multitude of stations where before I thought that the sporadic e-layer had closed down the 20 meter band. I am truly pleased with the transceiver and the fine audio reports and look forward to hooking it up to my linear within the next few days.

  10. IC-7300 WOW! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 18th Jul 2016

Better than I imagined. This is a really great radio! I was using a Kenwood TS-590S and that was a great radio. This IC-7300 is really wonderful. Easy to use, easy to set-up, and the receiver is something to behold. N5PAB.
