ICOM IC-9700 All Mode, Direct Sampling Tri-Band Transceiver 144, 430/440 And 1200MHz
Built with the VHF/UHF weak signal operator in mind, the IC-9700 is an RF direct sampling receiver for 2m and 70cm. The IF receiver consists of a single, down conversion for 23cm that is between 311 – 371MHz. This design provides a quiet receiver due to Icom’s DSP technology. The robust PA provides 100W on 2m, 75W on 70cm, and 10W on 23cm.
In addition to band specific memory channels, the IC-9700 allows band specific receiver and transmitter settings. For transmit, users can make adjustments to RF power, TX power Limit, Limit Power, and TX Delay by band. Basic receiver settings, like the Noise Blanker, Noise Reduction, and others can be tweaked by band with a dynamic Notch and Filter setup by band/mode.

I can say without question that this is the best satellite rig I've ever owned. Now I need to get an antenna for 23cm as I've never operated on that before, nor have I ever used D-Star before. I guess this old dog will be learning some new tricks, Hi, Hi. I also will be returning to MTC for most all my transceiver needs as they are some of the best people to deal with! W1JMB saying 73

I thought the IC-9700 was too much money when it first came out but I did want an all mode base radio for VHF/UHF. I thought maybe one of the other companies would come out with a dual band that was cheaper. We know they didn't so I decided to go ahead and get a 9700. Wow, This thing can do so much. I am very impressed with the IC-9700. Glad I got it.

I upgrade my IC-7000 to do weak signal work on 2 meters then start into 432. Wow. The difference in sensitivity on this radio is AMAZING. I could hear the fellow in San Angelo on the SWOT 2 meter net when his beam was pointing North. He never heard me even with 250 watts into a 13 element beam.
So yeh, this thing can also do Winlink, FT-8, and stuff I have not even thought to try.

The transceiver is a must have for the operator wanting world class all mode operations on 2m/70cm/23cm. Built in remote base server, satellite operations, and high power outputs make this a real contact maker for the serious operator. Both DStar DV and DD modes (including end point mode) as well as an input for 10 MHz reference for rock solid stability when properly configured.
Can't say enough for Richard and his crew for quick shipping, friendly service, and being there!

Well first, the Customer service of MTC is 5-stars! Second, the 9700 is an AMAZING radio! Packed full of all sorts of functions. For my needs, FM/SSB/CW its perfect, down the road I am sure I will be expanding operations!.

Totally impressed with the 9700 at this point. The scope is way more useful and sensitive than I expected at seeing very weak CW signals from propagation beacons. Also, I want to add that MTC was fabulous to deal with on this purchase. Thank You!

The radio: Better than advertised. Some learning curve required. Unbelievable technology.
The Supplier: MTC is my go to; friendly staff, reasonable prices, fast shipping. They go out of their way to make sure customers are happy. Thank you Christine.
