MTC Auctions Are Coming — And This Could Be Fun!

Some of you who have been around MTC Radio for a long time may remember that online auctions were once a big part of our business.

In the early days, Richard and Christine spent a lot of time selling gear through some of the big online auction marketplaces. At one point, we were running hundreds of auction items every week. It was a lot of work, but it was also a lot of fun. You never quite knew what something was going to sell for, and there was always another interesting piece of gear coming up next.

Over time, things changed. Fees went up. Rules changed. There were more hoops to jump through and more hassles to deal with. Eventually, we backed away from auctions altogether.

In fact, MTC hasn't run an auction in almost a year.

And you know what?

We miss it.

So we're bringing auctions back — but this time, we're doing it our way.

Introducing MTC Auctions

Sometime in October, we're planning to launch our very own auction section right here on the MTC Radio website.

And we think this could turn into something really fun.

What will we auction?

That's the best part. You really won't know.

Surplus inventory, overstock, trade-ins, old stock we discover sitting on a shelf, brand-new equipment, used gear, one-of-a-kind deals and whatever else we decide would be more fun to auction than put a price tag on.

There might be a radio one week and an antenna the next. We might uncover something that's been hiding in the warehouse for years. A trade-in might arrive that afternoon and end up on the auction page.

You really will never know what might show up next.

That's exactly how we want it.

No Marketplace in the Middle

There's another reason we're excited about this.

We would much rather offer the equipment directly to our customers than pay a bunch of auction fees to a giant marketplace and then have to build those expenses back into the price.

With MTC Auctions, you're buying directly from us.

Every single item on our auction page will be owned by MTC Radio. We aren't taking consignments, and we aren't listing merchandise for other sellers.

There isn't some unknown person on the other end of the transaction.

It's us — Richard and Christine at MTC Radio.

We've been selling radio equipment for many years, and we've built MTC one customer and one transaction at a time. Our reputation means a lot to us, whether you're buying a brand-new amplifier or winning a $50 item at auction.

Shipping Won't Be a Mystery Either

One thing that can take the fun out of winning an online auction is discovering what it's going to cost to get the item to your door.

We're keeping that simple.

Most MTC orders over $100 ship FREE. For most orders under $100, our standard shipping charge is $11.

So when you're deciding what you're willing to bid, you won't have to wonder whether a giant shipping charge is waiting for you at checkout.

What About Sales Tax?

As of this writing, MTC currently collects sales tax on orders shipped to Texas, North Carolina, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Arkansas.

We expect additional states to be added as our sales-tax obligations change, so the applicable tax will always be determined at checkout.

For customers in states where we are not currently required to collect sales tax, that can make an MTC auction win even more attractive. Buyers remain responsible for any applicable use tax under their state or local laws.

And Yes, We Stand Behind the Gear

Just because something is sold at auction doesn't mean we're going to forget about you after the sale.

New equipment includes its applicable factory warranty. Most used equipment sold by MTC includes our 90-day warranty unless the auction listing specifically states otherwise.

As always, read the individual auction description because we'll tell you exactly what you're bidding on and any special conditions that apply.

Check Back Often

We don't know exactly where MTC Auctions will lead.

But we have a feeling this could be big.

We're going to have fun with it. We're going to experiment. We're going to dig through inventory. We're going to put trade-ins up for bid. We're probably going to auction some things that surprise you — and maybe even surprise us.
