New technology is changing the way receivers are being designed, and the IC-7300 is an industry first as an RF Direct Sampling System is being used in an entry-level HF radio. The ability to digitize RF before various receiver stages reduces the inherent noise that is generated in the different IF stages of a radio. We feel the performance of the ‘7300 will far exceed your expectations for a radio considered entry-level.
The latest firmware offers smoother FT8 operation. One touch FT8 mode preset, Scroll mode, WLAN (Access Point) function and other updates are available.
The IC-7300MK2 is a compact all-mode transceiver for HF/50 MHz. It brings noticeable updates in receiver/transmitter performance, connectivity, and efficiency.
What’s new in the MK2 — at a glance
Improved RMDR (≈ 105 dB at 2 kHz) and significantly lower TX phase noise (typ. −139 dBc/Hz)
HDMI™ output for an external monitor with spectrum/waterfall (optional audio)
Integrated CW decoder — Morse decoding without a PC
RX-Antenna IN/OUT (SMA) for separate receive paths, filters, or preamps
USB-C with two virtual COM ports plus audio (e.g., FT8 and logging in parallel)
LAN remote with RS-BA1 (V2, optional, sold separately) — incl. remote power ON/OFF, no server PC required
Reduced RX standby current (about 0.7 A) for lower heat
Unchanged operating logicThe user interface is identical to the IC-7300. Menus, touch operation, and workflows are in the same places, minimizing retraining and errors in club or multi-user shacks.
Receiver and transmitter designStronger large-signal handling via higher RMDR; TX phase noise is reduced (typ. −139 dBc/Hz at 1 kHz offset). In practice: less adjacent-channel impact on receive and “cleaner” transmitted signals. RMDR (Reciprocal Mixing Dynamic Range) describes immunity to reciprocal mixing caused by oscillator phase noise in the presence of strong adjacent signals.
Efficiency & thermals
RX standby current decreases from 0.9 A to 0.7 A (typ.). Lower dissipation means less heating and stable long sessions, e.g., in contests.
Display & decoder
The HDMI™ output can show frequency, spectrum/waterfall, menus, and optionally audio on a large external monitor. The integrated CW decoder reads Morse without a PC; filtering and speed are adjustable.
Flexible receive paths & connectivitySeparate RX-Antenna IN/OUT (SMA) allow dedicated RX antennas, band-pass filters, or preamps. Via USB-C, two virtual COM ports plus audio enable, for example, FT8 software and logging over a single cable.
Remote operation
The integrated LAN port simplifies remote control: with RS-BA1 (Version 2, optional, sold separately), the transceiver can be controlled over a network/Internet — including power ON/OFF — without a server PC in the shack. Network access and continuous DC supply are required.
