The Kenwood TM-D710GA brings 144/440 MHz FM operation, built-in GPS and APRS together in a dual-band mobile transceiver. With 50 watts of output and a separate control head, it gives you a practical setup for everyday repeater use, position reporting and packet operation.

Built-in GPS and APRS

The GPS receiver is built into the control head, and the onboard AX.25 terminal node controller (TNC) lets you operate APRS without a computer or an external GPS unit. Exchange APRS messages and position information, log GPS data, mark waypoints and use target-point and automatic time-correction functions.

Connect a compatible computer for 1200/9600 bps packet communication or IGate operation. Optional interface cables are required for computer-connected functions.

Two bands, one convenient control panel

Monitor VHF and UHF together, or receive two frequencies on the same band using V/V or U/U operation. Independent volume and squelch controls for the A and B bands make it easy to manage both sides of the radio.

The separate control panel offers amber or green backlighting, adjustable brightness and programmable function keys. Included panel-angle and base-stand mounts support in-vehicle or tabletop control-panel installation.

EchoLink and computer connections

For EchoLink node operation, connect the radio to a computer running EchoLink software using the optional PG-5H PC interface cable kit. Connecting the internal TNC to a computer for packet operation also requires the PG-5G serial cable in addition to the PG-5H used for EchoLink Sysop mode. IGate and/or digipeater operation can be used alongside EchoLink node operation.
